This biography includes my own research on the designer Cipe Pineles. Pineles was the first female art director for a major publication and had a major impact on editorial design in the United States. As a way to celebrate her I used pieces of her work, such as floral illustrations, as design elements. I also looked to her as an inspiration for the layout of the book itself. Incorporating elements such as images across the gutter and fully-justified text.
